HALLDÓR KRISTJÁNSSON
INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR
Halldór Kristjánsson from Hafnarfjörður, Iceland, was elected to serve a two-year term as an
international director of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 105th International
Convention in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, July 7 through July 11, 2023.
Director Kristjánsson has more than 45 years of professional experience as a civil engineer and is
CEO of Tolvu- og verkfræðithjonustan.
As a member of the Ásbjörn Lions Club since 1979, he has held a number of offices within the
association including district information technology chairperson and multiple district
international relations chairperson. He is a three-time Group Leader, a Lions Certified Instructor
and has attended more than 10 international conventions.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards including an
International President’s Award and multiple International President’s Leadership Awards.
Director Kristjánsson has been honored with Kjaransorðan—the highest recognition of the Lions
movement in Iceland. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow (7 times).
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Kristjánsson is active in numerous professional and
community organizations and served as chairperson for the board of The Friends of MR. He has
also served on the Board of Directors for a variety of Icelandic companies.
Director Kristjánsson and his wife, Jenný Ágústsdóttir, a dentist, have two children and three
grandchildren.
