DANYAL KUBIN
INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR
Danyal Kubin from Ankara, Turkiye, was elected to serve a two-year term as an international
director of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 105th International Convention in
Boston, Massachusetts, USA, July 7 through July 11, 2023.
Director Kubin was born in Mersin, Turkiye and is a structural engineer and seismic expert with
nearly 40 years of experience as a consultant and design expert. He has undertaken design of
hundreds of projects in more than 30 countries around the world. Director Kubin is currently
chairperson of the board for Prota Design Group, one of the leading design companies in
Turkiye. He is one of the first earthquake experts in Turkiye and has published several technical
books on the subject. Using his expertise and Lions service experience, he coordinated the
MD118 Lions Disaster Relief Committee in the immediate aftermath of the February 2023
earthquake in the southeast of Turkey. Known as the disaster of the century, his efforts in
organizing service and coordinating funds through LCIF made an incredible difference in the
speed and impact of the critical emergency response.
Hoping to give back to his community, he became a Lions in 1990 after joining the Ankara
Maltepe Lions Club. He has held a number of offices within the association including multiple
district public relations chairperson, MD-GLT coordinator, MD-GMT coordinator and multiple
district Leo, youth and Youth Camp and Exchange coordinator. He also served as the editor for
the Turkish edition of Lion Magazine for 15 years. He has given more than 180 seminars and
trainings to Leos and Lions and is author, co-author, compiler and editor to more than 30 Lions
training programs and publications.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards including
International President’s Awards, International President’s Leadership Awards and International
President’s Certificates of Appreciation. He is the recipient of an LCI Membership Growth
Diamond award for chartering six Lions clubs. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Kubin is active in numerous professional and
community organizations. He has presented scientific papers at multiple international
conferences and symposiums and has served as a jury member at a number of competitions.
Additionally, he is a recognized expert and honored guest speaker at several universities.
Director Kubin and his wife, Gülten, have one son.
