MARVIN CHAMBERS
PAST INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR
Marvin Chambers, from Fillmore, Saskatchewan, Canada, was elected to serve a
two-year term as a director of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 94th
International Convention, held in Seattle, Washington, USA, July 4 to July 8,
2011.
Past Director Chambers is an agricultural consultant and the mayor of Fillmore.
A member of the Fillmore and District Lions Club since 1971, he has held many
offices within the association, including club president, region chair, zone chair
and district governor. He also served as a Guiding Lion and convention
chairperson, attended extension workshops and helped start three Lions clubs and
a Leo club.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards
including the 100% Club Secretary Award, 100% Club President Award, two
International President’s Certificates and two International President’s Awards.
He is also a Melvin Jones Fellow, a Judge Brian Stevenson Fellow and a life
member of both the Saskatchewan Eye Bank and the Saskatchewan Foundation.
In addition to his Lions activities, Past Director Chambers is active in numerous
professional and community organizations. He currently serves as a member of
the Fillmore Recreation and Cultural Board, a member of the Hospital Foundation
for Fillmore District and a village representative for Saskatchewan Urban
Municipalities. In the past, he also served as councilor for RM #96 [Fillmore],
United Church treasurer, councilor for the Village of Fillmore, and president of
both the Fillmore’s Donor’s Choice and the Fillmore Curling Club.
Past Director Chambers and his wife, Lynne, also a Lion, have five children and
five grandchildren.
