BARBARA GREWE
INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR
Barbara Grewe from Hanstedt/Weihe, Germany was elected to serve a two-year term as a
director of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 104th International Convention, June 24
through June 28, 2022.
Director Grewe is a retired lawyer.
She first joined as a Leo in 1977, and since 1989, she has been a member of the HamburgHammonia Lions Club. Her passion for collaboration, friendship and inspiring others to help
those in need has guided her service from the beginning. She has held a number of offices within
the association including multiple district council chairperson and multiple district centennial
coordinator. She served as a Leo advisor for six years, as a group leader for four DGE seminars
and as faculty at several leadership seminars.
In recognition of her service to the association, she has received numerous awards including nine
extension awards. She is also the recipient of multiple International President’s Awards and
International President’s Leadership Awards. She has been honored with the Ambassador of
Good Will Award, the highest honor the association bestows upon its members. She is also a
Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to her Lions activities, Director Grewe is active in numerous professional and
community organizations. She has been president of the Special Olympics Deutschland in
Hamburg since 2018, served as chairperson on the advisory board of the Hilfswerk der
Deutschen Lions (Relief Organization of German Lions) and has been a member of CBM since
2015. Her incredible kindness and accomplishments have been recognized with a Federal Cross
of Merit from the German government.
